preparing your christmas card list ...

i can start to hear the christmas whispers ... oh how i love this time of year.

its even more exciting when the christmas cards start arriving in the mail. not sure what happens in your house but my hubby and i always compete to get to the letter box first ... its the only time of the year when that happens!

if you are one of those lovely people who send your friends and family messages of joy for the festive season, check out our new postcard christmas range - pack of 10 with 4 assorted designs.

write your note on the back, pop on a stamp and send away. no need for an envelope so they are great for reducing paper usage - the sustainable christmas card!

find the postcard packs on our made it online store - www.madeit.com.au/writetome

happy christmas card writing ... and receiving of course!

mary poppins - particularly perfect in every way!

we went to see mary poppins (or m-pop - which i was told is the "in" abbreviation - thanks emma) and it was by far the best musical i have ever seen! seriously ... particularly perfect in every way!

mary poppins is an old much loved favourite of anna and mine from when we were wee little girls. anna won the video (yes video!) in a drawing competition and we used to watch it at least once a week. we knew all the words and all the song lyrics! i'm sure mum loved it too because it kept us quiet and not fighting for at least an hour and a half ... hehe.

the acting, the singing, the stage set and props, the customes ... all A-MAZING!

the little girl in front of me was so excited she got up and danced. if i was a little shorter i think i would have done the same thing.

two days later and i am still buzzing from it and annoying my work colleauges singing the tunes, so i thought i would share and let you know, if you love mary poppins then you should definitely go see it on stage.

a massive fortnight & friday comforts when i'm feeling 'blah'...

well we made it to the finders keepers market with all the stock we planned to build. it was a ridiculously hectic fortnight because whilst busy stamping, folding, binding, cutting and threading, we were also busy prioritising a handful of orders for new stockists ... which is of course was very exciting!

anna and i had an ace time at fk meeting talented crafters and also talking with other handmade appreciators. the quality of the products at every store was so amazing and it makes me so happy that handmade is so supported. thanks to everyone that purchased from us and a HUGE thank you to the girls at finders keepers for organising such a successful event and giving people like us another avenue to sell our range. a credit to you ...

anna and i were i guess a little overwhelmed and a little dazed by the enormity of the weekend and we kind of forgot to take photos so i have borrowed a couple that sarah from tribe katalyst took - thanks sarah!

... and also mark lobo from finders keepers

so this week has been the big clean up and the come down. i have battled a cold since tuesday (a run down cold i think but also possibly because of the crazy melbourne weather) and today i decided to take the day at home on the couch. i once read on the hyena in petticoats blog the below statement ...

Now most people would collapse into bed in a snotty, watery mess, and indeed I have done, but being sick is one of those paradoxes that only knitters would understand.

its so true. especially when its stormy weather. i haven't knitted in ages and i'm almost three months overdue in finishing little oscar longmire's blanket. so this is the plan for the arvo ...

other things i like to do when i'm home sick ...
  1. pump up the ducted heating (arrrgghhh dind't think we'd still have the pilot light lite in mid-october)
  2. eat boiled eggs with soldiers
  3. play on the net and read fellow crafter's blogs
  4. catch up on iview and movies
  5. drink cups of tea!
excited about our first travelling handmade tomorrow ...

now i'm going to re-boil the kettle and pick up my knitting needles.

with love,
nicoletta xo

not been getting much loving lately...

our little blog has not been getting much loving lately, so i thought i'd write to you all. we have been really busy creating some exciting new lines, a range of party invitations and matching lolly bags which are getting some fabulous feedback and orders, which is so nice. the most exciting news is that we just sold into our 17th store. who ever thought we would be in 17 stores after just a few short months! sometimes it's good to stop and reflect achievements, otherwise they don't feel like achievements - so today I will bake a cake, hmm maybe some chocolate self saucing puddings - as my family are coming over for dinner and we can celebrate with some cake and dessert wine! it's just that kind of weather... we are also nearly finished our vintage christmas range. (i know crazy and scary that we are working on christmas) with another photo shoot just around the corner we look forward to presenting you with our invitation and christmas range very soon.... till next time. oh and don't forget to write to someone special today. much love anna xoxo

i love nicoletta ceccoli's illustrations!

back in the early days of google, i googled my name in what must have been a wasting time exercise! it was meant to happen though because the search results brought up pages of nicoletta ceccoli's illustrations, an amazing italian artist - my love for her work begun!

how could i resist - this is one of my favourite pieces:

very special friends of mine recently bought me a gift - a nicoletta ceccoli notebook. i was stoked. thanks wesson-demarco's. you know me too well :)

... and the blogging begins

i have become a blog addict. i spend hours reading crafters and artists blogs. i go to bed with my iphone and instead of reading the novel that has been sitting on my bedside table for months, i read blogs. i find it so inspirational and i'm in love with people choosing handmade.

my mum and grandma taught, encouraged and nurtured my sister and i to be happy creative crafters from a really young age. i can remember knitting scarves and doing cross stitches well before we even started primary school! we used to love the cold winter melbourne days because it meant we could sit on the ducted heater, watch girls just want to have fun and craft! hmmm - yep nothing has changed - well maybe the choice of movie!

my sister anna and i have been dreaming of running a company together for so long. we launched 'write to me' earlier this year and we're having stacks of fun watching it grow.

we know how convenient today's means of communication is - emails, text messages, facebook, twitter, blogs - however the original concept of our creation is to get people to write to each other the old fashioned way.

write to your lover, best friend, long lost friend, grandma, grandpa, mum, dad, brother, sister, teacher, neighbour, cousin, aunty, uncle - really anyone you can think of - to say i love you, hello, tell your news, to wish congratulations, happy birthday, thinking of you, get well soon, i miss you, happy engagement, happy hens, happy kitchen tea, happy wedding day, welcome baby, bon voyage or just plain thanks! send it in the mail if you can as there is not enough nice mail in the post these days - or even better hand deliver. oh and hand write to people - it means so much more.

we look forward to sharing our journey, ideas and inspiration with you.
